Expired medication dumped
"It is unlawful to dump medication near a residential area, and specific procedures should be followed," says Captain Mhlophe.
EDEN PARK: Somebody dumped two heaps of expired medicine and tablets next to the Phola Park railway bridge, putting children’s lives in danger.
On Monday, September 22, Ward 53 community workers found children playing with tablets near two heaps of the discarded medication. They chased the children away and contacted Councillor Gladstone Zide, who immediately contacted the RECORD and the police.
“We found bundles of prescription documentation for different doctors, and all have a stamp of a pharmacy situated in the Carlton Centre on it. It is alleged that the pharmacy could be responsible for the dumping. We have tried for hours to get into contact with the pharmacy, but could not get through. It is unlawful to dump medication near a residential area, and specific procedures should be followed,” said Captain Mhlophe.
