Abraham Kriel Childcare elects new board chairperson

The board of Abraham Kriel Childcare is pleased to announce the election of Mr Lawrence Bongani Mlotshwa as chairperson.

JOHANNESBURG – Mr Mlotshwa has been serving on the Abraham Kriel Childcare board since November 2003. He is an accomplished Human Resources Executive and has worked in this capacity for Unilever, Sun International, Nedbank Group, ABSA and Barclays Group as well as Neotel.

Mr Mlotshwa takes over from Mr George le Roux at a particularly difficult time for Abraham Kriel Childcare as the 112-year-old organisation faces up to a massive financial crisis.

Income sources have reduced over the past number of months, with the result that the organisation has been forced to use reserves built up over eight years to sustain its services.

Service on the board of Abraham Kriel Childcare is a volunteering act and although board members share the same responsibilities and accountability as a board member on any other board, they do so without compensation of any kind.
