Love and laughter at OR Tambo
This sure is the season to give and spoil those less fortunate.
THE third annual SED children’s party at OR International Airport sure made a big deal out of making Christmas special for those less fortunate.
This event formed part of the airport’s commitment to being a caring corporate citizen by spreading the Christmas cheer among those who are less privileged.
OR Tambo International Airport hosted children from Sinethemba Day Care (Thokoza), OR Tambo Primary School (Phomolong, Tembisa), Arebaokeng Nursery and Hospice (Hospital View, Tembisa), Alexandra Health Care Centre Orphans (Alexandra) and Entokozweni Nursery School (Alexandra).

Over 160 underprivileged, disadvantaged and orphaned children from different communities around the Ekurhuleni precinct were hosted by Ms. Bongiwe Pityi, General Manager of O.R. International Airport at the children’s party. Pityi welcomes the opportunity for OR Tambo International to bring life to the airport’s Socio-Economic Development (SED) promise of “Empowering communities with P.R.I.D.E”.

“The development of children living in the surrounding areas of our operations is important to us. OR Tambo International Airport believes that our ability to successfully operate rests with the support and involvement of local communities around the airport,” says Ms Pityi.
The children, aged between four and 12 years, were pampered for the day and given special treats as their laughter and joy echoes throughout the airport.
