Metro creates dumping
Residents are fed-up with Ekurhuleni Metro not keeping to their schedules.
EDEN PARK – Dumping sites are mushrooming everywhere around Eden Park. Every vacant stand is becoming a dumping place due to non-collection of rubbish by the Ekurhuleni Metro.
Rubbish collecting, according to the stipulated time-table supplied by EMM, is supposed to be done every Thursday of the week. But no, the time-table is not followed because sometimes the collection is done on Friday, Saturday or even a Sunday while everyone is attending church.
Residents complain that they have no option but to empty their full dustbins at the nearest dumping site. It is alleged by most residents that the unemployed nyaope smokers charge R5 to empty full dustbins at the sites.
A frustrated resident staying next to a dumping site said he blames EMM for creating dumping sites. He said he was tired of pushing his dustbin in and out every day.
