Garden lovers: This is for you, come and see what the South has
Johannesburg South Garden Club held its garden competition on Saturday February 7, with the result that five winners will be showing their gardens to the public on Sunday February 22 from 14:00 until 17:00.
Lina Jones was the overall winner with her medium-sized garden, water feature, pavement, vegetable garden and container pots. Visit: 11 Mount Pellan Drive, Glenvista ext 5.
Denise Haslecker won the large garden section and container pots, 21 Jeanine Avenue, Bassonia.
Anne Du Pless won for her water feature in a large garden and pavement garden, 8 Klapper Road, Mulbarton, and Lea Brash won the small garden and containers, 31 Victoria Street, Rosettenville.
Garden club member Fathima Badat’s garden will also be on show (15 Methwold Street, Mulbarton).
Tea and cake will be available to purchase, while you sit and relax in tranquil surroundings.
Next meetings
If you are interested in gardening and would like to go along to the garden club meetings to see what it is all about, the next meeting is on Saturday February 21 at 10:00 at the Entrance Precinct, Peggy Vera Road, Kibler Park, where you can enjoy listening to guest speaker Judd Kirkel Welwitch chatting on English gardens and the history of The Chelsea Flower Show.
On Tuesday February 24 at 10:00 at the Entrance Precinct (same address as above) Jacques Damhuis from GRO4U will speak on Growing food in the Urban Environment.
