Peaceful and disciplined march
It is a common factor that most marches, as seen in the media, always end in a very violent fashion - regardless of what the marchers are marching for.
However, the march from Extention 5 to the Eden Park rates offices on February 18 was different. Although it looked violent when it started, the marching was peaceful with the dancing and singing up to the councillors’ office, where the marchers waited for two and a half hours to hand over their petition.
Again they dispersed peacefully without any stone thrown, no burning of tyres or blocking of roads, no shop looting or any intimidation or confrontation between marchers and the police.
This could set a trend of how to have a peaceful and disciplined march for other areas.
