In memory of Joseph

Eden Park in loving memory of a colleague, the late Joseph Ngubo, aka "Oom Joe".

Joseph will be sadly missed by his colleagues. He was a general cleaner for 30 years at Eden Park Primary, where he started in 1984 and lived by his philosophy: “You have to honour your work.”

He had gained the respect of all men and women, because he respected the school, ethos and Christian culture. Oom Joe was a loyal and hard worker and always showed dedication.

Joseph was successful in his workplace for he dearly loved the children who had filled his niche and had helped him accomplish his task. Over the years, all the learners and parents, who were once part of the school, can still remember Oom Joe so well.

The school was his only focus and he spread love through interaction in Afrikaans, English and Zulu. He was well respected by the parents, because he would not allow learners to disrespect the school and its rules. He knew the difference between right and wrong.

“Joseph was a hard worker, a man of dignity and respect who served Eden Park Primary with pride,” said the former principal, Dr Deon Oerson, currently at St Benedicts, at the memorial service.
