Several seriously injured in traffic tragedy

ALBERTON - Two collisions in Alberton and Meyerton on Tuesday, March 31 left two people in a critical condition and several others injured.

According to ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing, in one incident a motorist apparently stopped his vehicle to help a motorist when another vehicle collided with them on the R59 direction Alberton.

When ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on the scene they reportedly found one patient in a critical condition. She had to be extricated from a vehicle. She was treated and airlifted to hospital.

One woman sustained moderate injuries and two sustained minor injuries. They were treated and transported to hospital.

In a collision in Meyerton between Meyer and Henley off-ramps, a bakkie lost control, rolled and landed on the grass alongside the road. The vehicle was found in two pieces. There were three occupants. Two occupants were reportedly ejected from the vehicle.

One person sustained critical injuries, one sustained moderate injuries and another sustained minor injuries. They were treated and transported to hospital.

Authorities were at both scenes to investigate.
