Oil valve theft
Theft and vandalism at Substation Z7 resulted in power supply interruptions in parts of Alrode and Thokoza North recently according to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM).
ALBERTON – Areas affected include Alrode industrial are; Thokoza hostels; Basothong, Mpilisweni, Phenduka.
The City is aware of the problem, which was caused by the theft of two transformer oil valves. Transformers have reportedly lost close to 20 000 litres of oil.
Ekurhuleni technicians worked on site around the clock to restore power to all affected areas.
Residents will be kept abreast of any developments pertaining to the interruption. The municipality wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
