WATCH: Workers from industrial businesses protest outside substation Z2 in Alrode

ALBERTON – Workers from industrial businesses and their managers gathered outside substation Z2 in Alrode to protest the ongoing power crisis. Alrode and parts of Thokoza have been without power since Friday, April 24. Over 40 workers from different companies operating from Alrode gathered with more than 60 business managers and owners to express their dissatisfaction with power outages in the area.

In a media statement, released on Friday, May 8, the EMM acknowledged that businesses and residents were negatively affected by the power supply interruption and sincerely apologised for the inconvenience caused.

EMM called for residents to play a role in the fight against vandalism and theft by contacting the municipal services call center on 0860 543 000, to report any suspicious conduct or people tampering with municipal infrastructure.
