EDEN PARK – They rushed to his aid and found he had fallen into an open drain.

“The cover was still there when I locked the gate on Wednesday night; it must have been stolen during the night,” said Mr Carelse.

”My son was closing the gate when he left for work and, when he turned, he stepped into the open sewer drain situated near the gate. He could have broken a leg or even injured his spinal cord; he was just lucky he did not sustain any such injury. We now have to cover the drain to get in and out of the gate, otherwise our vehicles will also be damaged,” Carelse concluded

This was the last metal drain cover to be stolen in Hudson Street.

All the other missing drain covers have been replaced with the new covers by EMM.
