39 houses for elderly

A total of 39 elderly residents received keys to their new houses in Eden Park West, near the cemetery, on May 19.

EDEN PARK – The keys were handed over at the community hall. Officials from the Ekurhuleni Metro Municipality explained that the 39 keys would only be given to the elderly.

After receiving his keys, pensioner Jonas Boshiblo said: “I am very happy to have a house of my own. I have been renting a room in Thokoza, but on Saturday I will be moving into my new house.”

According to ward councillor Gladstone Zide, 159 houses will be built which will firstly be allocated to the elderly, disabled and child-headed families. He said the 39 houses handed over were for pensioners whose houses were invaded in 2008.
