Help AMCARE beat the winter chills

With the sudden drop in temperatures, AMCARE is experiencing an ever pressing need to keep up with demands of the community it serves.

ALBERTON – During the past week, a number of most welcome blanket deliveries was made to the doors of AMCARE but, as Marihet Infantino from AMCARE’s social services explains, the need keeps on growing.

Apart from blankets, they are in dire need of warm clothing – especially boys clothing for all ages. Girls clothing for ages 11 to 18 years is also most welcome. Anything and everything that can keep these children warm will help. Winter pajamas, jerseys, jackets, shoes and tekkies, gloves, scarfs and hoodies – you name it they need it.

But this is not where the need stops. Stocks of toiletries, especially sanitary wear for the girls, are running alarmingly low. Sanitary wear is on the priority list, followed by deodorant, toothpaste, soaps and shoe polish.

Once clothed and clean, the hunger must also be kept at bay. AMCARE’s love bucket is an ideal way you can support the continues drive to fill food cupboards (read more about this on page ???). Should you, however, want to make bigger donations, there is always a need for non perishables and especially tinned food.

All food items donated to AMCARE are used to make up food parcels which they distribute on a weekly basis to the less fortunate in and around Alberton.

AMCARE serves the community of Great Alberton and has a couple of child-headed families who they look after as well.
