Knitting blankets for those in need.

ALBERTON – Irene Rayner, an 88-year-old from Alberton (middle holding a blanket),  decided that she wants to knit blankets to be distributed during the the winter months.

The Philia Women’s Group, of which she is an active member, jumped in and helped her rounding off the blocks she knitted by adding the borders and sewing them all together. The result was a proud moment when all these blankets were handed over to Tersia Burger, Stepping Stone Hospice’s CEO (on the left).

These blankets will now be used as Blessing Blankets to be handed out to hospice patients and their families. The Philia Group meets every Tuesday at the NG Church West in Fore Street, New Redruth, where the ladies form a support group and learn various new skills.
