Residents reach out to family in need

ALBERTON – Precious Ngwenya has two children who do not speak the same language as she does.

Terrance and Sizalobuhle were both born deaf and both attend Ekurhuleni School for the Deaf. Precious was first interviewed by the RECORD in June about the difficulty which she faces as a single mother of two deaf children. She doesn’t understand sign language and that is the only way which her children communicate.

Since the article was published, Precious has claimed that there has been an outpouring of support and assistance from Alberton residents who are willing to help. Precious has been contacted by someone who is willing to teach her sign language and also provide her with books and DVDs about sign language.

“I am so grateful. I don’t know what to say. I am learning more and more every day,” said Precious.
