THE Greater Alberton Community Policing Forum (CPF) will have a 24-hour community fundraising and crime awareness drive this Saturday, November 14.

Pieter Schreider, CPF chairperson, said the initiative will start from 12:00 at the Alberton Police Station, from where they will move into the various areas of Alberton.

There will also be vehicles available for those who wish to make a contribution to the fundraising initiative.

The aim is to raise money for the purchase of a repeater for their two-way-radio infrastructure, to allow more members access to the network, to report crime and to ask for assistance.

“On the day people can send us a message, phone our control room or call us over the two-way-radios, so that we can collect their donations,” Schreider said.

He added that each patroller will have an identity card and a receipt will be issued.

The control room can be reached, 24 hours a day, on 076 105 0859.
