Grass mysteriously burns

It is unclear what could be causing the burning grass.

EDEN PARK – There is no visible flame but you can notice the smoke and spot the grass burning.

This is how Petrus Adams, a resident of Benz Street in Eden Park, describes the patches of burnt grass in the park on the corner of Pietersen Street and the K146 Road to Palmridge.

Adams claims that the burning has been going on for about three weeks.

“There is no evidence of any oil or any flammable substance on the grass, and yet the burning goes on and on daily.

“We don’t know whether there are any oil pipes underneath which could be leaking. We are worried and want the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) to check this mysterious fire before it becomes fatal,” said Adams.

The RECORD is awaiting comment from EMM.
