Alberton star on the rise

Shenize Bekker, a local girl, is making her mark on the music scene.

ALBERTON – Shenize Bekker, an 11-year-old Grade Five student from Laerskool Randhart, is representing Alberton on the international music scene with her debut song ‘It’s Our Chance’.

Shenize co-wrote the pop song with American song-writer, singer and producer, Nate Butler, who has worked with artists such as the Backstreet Boys, Luther Vandross, 3LW and the Cheetah Girls.

Nate described Shenize as having “great instincts” and said that she will grow to be a great songwriter. Nate produced and recorded the track as well as created the beat. Shenize said that the song was a feel-good song about dancing and grabbing all the chances that life presents you. “Don’t be shy,” Shenize stated.

The music video was shot in Randburg at Flashback Studios and Be Your Dream productions on Wednesday, September 30. Anaïs, a national Lifeline ambassador and Be Your Dream owner, produced the video and Maurice Loois directed.

Just You Artist and Modelling Management provided seven hip hop dancers for the video and Bronwynne’s Dancing Academy sent five tap dancers and a very talented contemporary dancer to the shoot.

A TV interview with Shenize will be aired on Sunday, November 29, on KykNET Musiek, channel 146, “Kooptyd” from 15:00 to 16:00.
