Germiston Cluster Police held a roadblock on the N3 on December 31 and the station commander for Brackendowns SAPS, Colonel Van Vuuren, was in charge of the operation.

The operation was held together with the metro police to check vehicles for any illegal items and to promote safe driving into the new year. Traffic fines were issued to motorists who transgressed whilst others were arrested for drunk driving and the possession of dangerous weapons.

All the suspects were detained at Alberton SAPS and have already appeared in the Palmridge Court to answer to the alleged charges.
