Suspect arrested

During a routine patrol in the Verwoedpark, tactical officer Nardus Hollander came across a suspicious looking male in Braun Avenue, Verwoedpark.

DURING a routine patrol in Verwoedpark, Nardus Hollander, operations manager and part of the tactical team from CPS Security, came across a suspicious looking male in Braun Avenue.

With the help of the EMPD Crime Task Team, the man was searched and a Morpho Touch machine was used in order to see if the man was wanted for anything.

A Morpho Touch machine is a fully customised hand-held finger imaging terminal designed to run an unlimited variety of fingerprint identification applications.

“This machine can be used in any circumstance where someone is suspected of being involved in any illegal activity, and is usually used by specialised units within the police, and sometimes at road blocks and the like,” said Kobeli Mokhesenga, media liaison officer for the EMPD.

The man was positively identified as being wanted for a housebreaking which took place in the Brackenhurst area.

The man was detained and taken to the Alberton Police Station.

“We would like to take the opportunity to thank the members from EMPD Crime Task Team for their assistance, they truly are making an impact in the Alberton area” said Tyrone van der Merwe of CPS Security.
