UPDATE: Jumbo Cash and Carry on fire

There were a lot of explosive sounds coming from the inside when the COURIER team arrived.

Hundreds of pedestrians gathered outside the Jumbo Cash and Carry in Crown Mines, Main Reef Road, to witness the warehouse burn.

Members of the media and emergency services units flocked to the scene as the news quickly trended on social media and traffic news about the fires which started at 5:15 and affected traffic.

EMS Spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi said: “At this state we can say that the fire has been contained but we have not determined the cause of the fire as we are still waiting for everything to settle so we could investigate the cause. Fortunately there were no people injured as the warehouse was empty at the time the fire started,”

There were a lot of explosive sounds coming from the inside when the COURIER team arrived. Mulaudzi also confirmed that a lot of the items inside the warehouse were flammable. The warehouse’s roof looked like it would collapse.
