THE CITY of Ekurhuleni has put an additional standby team in place to respond timeously to unplanned power interruptions in Thokoza.

According to the EMM, this is among the interventions to deal with frequent power outages in the area.

Excavation work is also under way in Nhlapo, Buthelezi and Tshabalala streets, to make way for the installation of new underground medium voltage cables to stabilise the supply of electricity.

“We a are certain that the replacement work will assist in reducing the number of unplanned power supply interruptions in the area,” said the Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

The replacement work was expected to be completed by Sunday, May 22, but it is unclear if they finished in time for this deadline.
