Police set up traffic check points

In a joint operation the Police and Metro Police are conducting vehicle check points around Alberton area and those who are found to have transgressed the law are issued with fines or arrested.

IN a joint operation, the police and Metro Police are conducting vehicle check points around Alberton and those who are found to have transgressed the law are issued with fines or arrested.

Safety tips are also handed out to motorist about hijackings, domestic violence, substance abuse, theft of motor vehicles, business robberies, house robberies, children and adult rights, and sexual offences, to remind the community to be vigilant and not be vulnerable.

The partnership operation was visible at Heidelberg Road, New Market and around South Crest on Friday, May 20.

“Crime fighting is everyone’s business, let us fight crime together. To know what your role can be, talk to the acting Vispol head, Captain Solomon Matlou at Alberton SAPS or talk to the Community Policing Forum and join in,” said Alberton SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Phora Nkuna.
