A WOMAN welcomed her baby boy on Monday, July 18, after she gave birth in Memorial Road in Kimberley. This birth is special because the baby boy was born on Nelson Mandela Day.
An ER24 Kimberley paramedic who was on his way home was flagged down by a group of women and advised that a woman had given birth. It is understood the woman was on her way home when she gave birth.
The paramedic stopped and found the woman believed to be 40 years of age sitting under a tree.
Upon assessment of the woman and baby, it was found that both were doing well.
ER24 Kimberley crews transported the mother and baby to the Kimberley Provincial Hospital for further assessments.
