Sixteen injured after taxi rolls

Traffic still backed up both sides of Kliprivier Drive.

The taxi driver and 15 passengers sustained serious injuries after the taxi rolled on the corner of Kliprivier Drive and Bellairs. Traffic is heavily backed up south bound near Bellaires.

Emergency services are on the scene.

JMPD spokesperson Edna Mamonyane was at the scene. “The driver of the taxi and all 15 passengers have been taken to various hospitals with serious injuries.”

“The driver of the black Audi was slightly injured and the passenger has been rushed to Mulbarton Hospital. According to eyewitness the taxi was travelling very fast and came through a red traffic light hitting the Audi.”
