Residents have their say about planned pylons

Alberton residents have had their say, and all of them who have contacted The RECORD are strongly against the pylons (power lines) planned.

ALBERTON residents have had their say, and all of them who have contacted the RECORD are strongly against the pylons (power lines) planned.

I am disgusted to hear of Eskom’s plans. We have a beautiful city and these heavy-handed organisations want to bulldoze their plans through with no consideration for those in the firing line. Pylons are so ugly, if they want to go through Alberton, they must go underground.

Please don’t let them turn our city into an ugly Northern Suburbs look-alike.

Peter Mitchell

Thank you for the heads-up on the planned massive electric pylons set to be built throughout the Alberton CBD. As Alberton residents we are totally opposed to these electric pylons been erected. These pylons will cause the deterioration of the character of the town, and of course the lowering of the value of properties together with the years of unhealthy building dust, noise, electronic interference and health risks and inconvenience.

It is shocking that Eskom did not follow due process or go through any of the necessary channels when approving the plans and the necessary processes are not being followed and most of all the residents are not given the opportunity to oppose something like this, which will have a major negative impact on many levels for the residents of Alberton. We are totally opposed to the pylons being built through Alberton CBD and Alberton North.

My husband and I will be happy to any sign petition arranged.

Cynthia and Ralph Smith

After reading the article in the RECORD recently, I stand horrified to think that Eskom wants to deface our beautiful Alberton.

I say NO. Let them put their electric pylons elsewhere. Especially since Albertonians won’t even benefit from this!

Diane Jacobs

Another example of a burgeoning dictatorship doing exactly as it pleases. We must stand up against this bunch if we wish to retain a modicum of control over our own environment.

Wim van Gils, Alberton

As a resident of Alberton, I am seriously worried about the issue of the pylons and I am totally against it.

Lebohang Mogotsi

I am not agreeing to the erection of the pylons for Eskom.

Chris Geldenhuys

It will completely ruin the land and entire area. Bird and other animal life will be adversely affected and noise and dust pollution will cause huge problems for everyone living and working in the area. Find another way; we don’t need it!

L. Lawson

These were just some of the comments the RECORD received from residents who are against the pylons being built.

We have yet to receive comment from Eskom and other role players in this matter.
