Celebrating Diwali

On Diwali night, people dress up in new clothing or their best traditional outfits, light up diyas and then feast.

DIWALI or Deepawali is the Hindu festival of lights which will be celebrated between Friday, October 29, and Monday, October 31.

Deepawali is one of the major Hindu festivals and it signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.

On Diwali night, people dress up in new clothing or their best traditional outfits, light up diyas (lamps) inside and outside their homes and participate in family prayer, followed by a family feast and an exchange of gifts between family members and close friends.
