Calvin needs to pursue fame as a dancer
Calvin is in need of assistance from sponsors, to be able to make his dream a reality - as the costs involved, are astronomical.
CALVIN Quai, an 18-year-old from Alberton, has been selected to dance in the United States of America, but needs sponsors to help get him there.
What makes this Alberton High’s learner accomplishment particularly remarkable, is that he only started dancing a few months ago when his modelling agency asked him to dance, in a routine for a talent show.
The talented young man models for ACE Modelling Agency and has been growing in strides as far as his dancing goes. He was scouted by Kim Myers, a representative of Applause Rising Talents Showcase (Arts), who invited him to their next event in the US in August 2017; after seeing him dance. On their trip, the group will stop over in New York for a day or two before going to Orlando in Florida, where the showcase will take place.
When asked if he plans to pursue a dancing career, he said: “Definitely – dancing, acting and modelling, performance in general. Then he added, laughing: “Just not singing; I’m a terrible singer.
“I never even considered dance as something I wanted to do, until I kind of fell into it and now, I’m so passionate about it. Before this all happened, I was interested in either becoming a marine biologist or going into art – particularly animation and design.”
