Alberton models strut their stuff at nationals

The National Student Model of the Year finals took place recently with 70 students competing against Figures branches nationally.

THE National Student Model of the Year finals took place recently with 70 students competing between Figures branches nationally.

From Friday, December 2 to Sunday, December 4, Alberton Figures Finesse International Models showed their worth at the competition held at the Roodepoort Youth Theatre.

The models from ages 13 to 15 years opened the event on Friday night.

All the girls wore a simple form-fitting blue dress to best show off their figures, while the boys wore black pants with a funky standardised Figures shirt.

Twelve judges and two auditors were present to ensure scoring was done according to the Figures prescribed guidelines.

Alberton Figures Finesse International won the Top Showcase Award for 2016 and had a total of 43 top scorers. Well done to the following students: Natasha Cornelius, Lethabo Sekhosana, Jade Harrop, Leon Randall, Jayden Oosthuizen, Dylan Snelling, Anthony Ferreira, Michael Durwin-Smith, Alba Maitisa, Lara Groenewald, Cassy Glad, Maya Kuhn, Luthando Mazibulo, Tanja Zobenica, Loghan Da Silva, Tieghan Griffin-Coetzer, Leandri van Vuuren, Carmen Nepgen and several other top-scoring students.

In the skill category, Alberton had two winners – Leandri van Vuuren and Lethabo Sekhosana. It also achieved one second place and one third place – Leon Randall and Alba Maitisa. There were 15 top skill scorers.

In the fashion category, Alberton had one winner – Lara Groenewald – and one third place – Cassy Glad. There were 11 top fashion scorers.

In the commercial category, Alberton had one second place and 12 top commercial scorers.

In the teachers category, there were five top scorers.

“We would like to congratulate each and every winner, top scorer and teacher who made it through to the top,” says Emma Griffin-Coetzer from Alberton Figures.

“This competition is a culmination of the whole year’s hard work and the amalgamation of all the various courses you have learnt throughout the year. The Alberton Figures family is looking forward to 2017 and wishes all their students and teachers only the best for the future. “Together, we can conquer and shine bright,” she adds.
