Mrs United Nations SA is proud of Michaila
Former Bracken High learner, Michaila Hepburn, has been praised by the founder of the Switch Campaign, Desiree Oliphant-Hilmer, who is Mrs United Nations SA.
A FORMER Bracken High learner, Michaila Hepburn, has been praised by the founder of the Switch Campaign, Desiree Oliphant-Hilmer, Mrs United Nations SA, for the successes she’s achieved since leaving school. Desiree visited the school in 2014 when Michaila was a Grade 12 learner, to talk about the campaign.
“When I went to Bracken High, little did I know that among the Grade 12s stood a young woman ready and determined to make ‘the Switch’,” said Desiree.
She explained that the Switch Campaign is centred on the theme of being a better version of yourself, regardless of the situation that you may find yourself in. The aim of the campaign, which is supported by the SAPS and AKESO psychiatric clinics, is to educate and inform the youth about problems in society.
“Michaila has truly strived to be a better version of herself, despite any challenges she may have faced,” said Desiree.
Michaila is a professional dancer and also the owner of the Studio 55 dance studio. The studio got off the ground after Michaila rented space from the owner of Figures Alberton Models, in Randhart, in 2014.
In 2015, the dance school became popular with pre-schoolers and teenagers and soon various events took place, complete with certificates and trophies to reward excellence.
Michaila believes it’s important for the dance students to feel valued and special when they excel.
“She made the Switch, not only in her head but in her heart and for the community too. Michaila epitomises what I carry in my heart of hearts, every day since I won the title of Mrs United Nations SA, for this community, our country and the world,” Desiree said.
“I want to congratulate her for showing such amazing drive and passion. Thank you for making the Switch, my angel face. You are changing lives and you change souls, one big moment after another,” said Desiree.
