He went right through the red light and the girl on the scooter crashed into him.
THE rider of a scooter is in a serious condition, after she was in an accident involving a bakkie on Swarkoppies Road, (intersection with Garfield), Alberton this morning at about 07:45.
According to Max Cohen from EMER-G-MED, their paramedics who attended to the serious accident saw that a scooter had T-boned a bakkie, leaving the rider with serious injuries and requiring advanced life support intervention.
“The patient was transported to hospital by another private ambulance service, under the care of an EMER-G-MED Advanced Life Support paramedic.”The events leading up to the collision are unclear and will be investigated by local traffic authorities,” added Cohen.
An eye-witness, who would like to remain anonymous, says it was an official Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality vehicle that sped through a red traffic light, that caused the accident. “He went right through the red light and the girl on the scooter crashed into him. “He didn’t even bother to get out of his bakkie, to see if she was okay or to help – he just sat there in his vehicle the entire time,” says the lady.
The RECORD is in possession of the witness’ name, telephone number and the number plate of the bakkie involved – and are awaiting comment from the EMM and the EMPD.
