Fighting cancer at Bracken City

"My uncle and grandmother both suffered from cancer before their deaths, and my husband's grandmother has cancer too, so my husband and I both wanted to do our bit to fight this terrible disease"

BRACKEN City Shopping Centre hosted a Cansa Shavathon on Saturday, February 25, in aid of cancer research.

People got the chance to show their support for those suffering from cancer, by either shaving their heads, getting their hair sprayed or donating a ponytail to be used for the production of wigs for cancer patients.

“My uncle and grandmother both suffered from cancer before their deaths, and my husband’s grandmother has cancer too, so my husband and I both wanted to do our bit to fight this terrible disease,” said Melanie du Toit, who surrendered her ponytail and got her head shaved. Her husband also had his head shaved for the cause.

Another ponytail donation came from Garfield Thomas, who said he just wanted to raise awareness for this important cause that affects so many people’s lives.
