SAPS starts anti-rape campaign
“The purpose of the campaign was to make the community aware that any person can be a victim and what to do and how to deal with a situation."
CRIME against women and children around the country has been making headlines, aggravating fear among women and children.
As a result, the police in all nine provinces have embarked on a national anti-rape campaign to bring awareness to the community in every town and city.
On May 25, the Eden Park police and their administration staff marched from Eden Park Police Station to Palmridge Shopping Centre, carrying placards with messages like “Why are you hurting me?”
The march was organised by Social Crime Prevention under the leadership of Captain Vusi Mhlophe and Warrant Officer Ntswaki Mosala. “The purpose of the campaign was to make the community aware that any person can be a victim and what to do and how to deal with a situation. We had a good response from the community with some women saying how tired they are of some men who rape and abuse women and vulnerable little girls. This campaign will be an ongoing thing,” said Ntswaki Mosala.
