Mrs Africa finalist hosts Women’s Workshop for AMCARE
The workshop took place at the Alberton Methodist Church with the purpose of encouraging self-worth, confidence and pride in oneself.
WOMEN enjoyed a morning of inspiration and motivation, bringing them to the realisation that they must focus on what makes them proud about themselves.
On Friday afternoon, 25 August, Lucinda Pietersen, finalist for the Mrs Africa Pageant, hosted a Women’s Workshop for the clients of AMCARE. The workshop took place at the Alberton Methodist Church with the purpose of encouraging the women’s self-worth, confidence and pride in themselves.

Starting with an introduction of herself, Lucinda Pietersen, Mrs Africa finalist from Alberton, enlightened the women on how she sees herself and what motivates her. She discussed with each woman how they see themselves, what motivates them on hard days, what makes them proud of themselves and where they see themselves in the next five years.
She moved on to talk about the importance of having a job, how to behave and how to be a strong woman in the workplace. “Oprah Winfrey said: ‘Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is merely another stepping stone to greatness.’ Remember these words and don’t let anything get you down or get in the way of your reaching your dreams,” Lucinda said.
After her challenging motivational speech, Lucinda handed the floor over to Shay Noah, a self-taught makeup artist from Alberton-based Anisa’s Nail and Beauty Salon. “It is important to take pride in one’s appearance, because looking good makes one feel confident and ready to conquer the day,” said Lucinda.
Shay then gave the women helpful makeup tips – how to fill in eyebrows, which eyeshadows complement different eye colours, using lip liner to make one’s lips stay bright throughout the day, and many more. She demonstrated on a few different ladies, so that each could have a chance to feel special.

Afterwards, everyone enjoyed chatting over a cup of tea and some cake. It was clear to see that the ladies had a wonderful time, building their confidence together.
AMCARE would like to thank Lucinda for her time and effort in presenting this workshop for their clients. “It means a lot to us and to each of those women; Lucinda is an inspiration to us all,” said Nadine Mason on behalf of AMCARE.
