What should the punishment be for animal abusers?

Here is what Albertonians had to say.

A RECENT video showing a dog being brutally beaten has made headlines. The RECORD took to the streets of Alberton to ask how animal abusers should be punished.

ANASTACIA SMART: Abused animals should be removed from the owners. These people should not be allowed to have animals. They should be punished in the same way they punished these innocent animals.
KINGSTONE SIZIBA: I am the senior inspector at Alberton SPCA and I feel that crime is crime and animal abusers should face their charges. Pets are family to us. People must also report animal abusers. Do not just ignore abuse.
JOSEP MAHLANGU: I work with abandoned animals on a daily basis and I feel that animal abusers should be arrested to face their actions. I do not believe in violence, only justice.
LIANA MARX: Consequences for animal cruelty should be stricter. People are fined and aren’t allowed to have animals but they are born with that violence in them and will continue to abuse animals and even children.
