Gavin Meyers wants to see others prosper
He simply has a passion for the well-being of others, especially for children and the fatherless.
THE man who got the idea for the i4118 Foundation is Gavin Meyers. He started it all nearly three years ago with the help of Elizabeth Browne, Prominent Ncube and Robyn Stephens.
Gavin (47) is unmarried and has no biological children, but that doesn’t stop him from caring for abused and neglected children as if they are his own.
Seeing other people’s lives improve is what drives Gavin to be successful. He simply has a passion for the well-being of others, especially for children and the fatherless.
Gavin feels that this foundation is special because unlike many other similar organisations, this one doesn’t just care about its own success. “We want to work with other organisations and help improve them as well,” he said. He added that i4118 look at every child’s holistic needs, instead of focusing on just a few aspects of their well-being.
One day, Gavin hopes to be remembered as someone who did what he could for those less fortunate. With a sheepish smile, Gavin admits that he wishes everyone had a passion to help others because then society would be a much better place.
“This foundation has helped me grow as a person and took me out of my ‘comfortable bubble’,” said Gavin. “I see the hurt in so many people’s lives on a daily basis. It really keeps me in perspective. Don’t ever judge anyone unless you know their story.”
