Community shares opinions on our justice system

They talked about whether our justice system is efficient or not.

THE RECORD ventured into town to hear some of the community’s opinions on whether the justice system is efficient or not. Here is what they shared.

ELSJE HUMAN: “The system is not working because crime is still on the increase and so many big cases are being postponed where there is actually enough information to imprison the culprit.”
ELSADINE PIENAAR: “My answer is no, I read a lot of articles where criminals have been released and arrested for the same criminal offence again.”
WILLEM STEENKAMP: “The system is not working, people who are guilty get bail instead of just being arrested. Justice is not served as it used to be served.”
CHRIS KRUGER: “I don’t think it works at all. Too much pity is taken on hard criminals such as rapists, murderers and drug dealers. They’re not being punished well enough, which obviously leads to more crime.”
