Alberton Boulevard is a disgrace
Hawkers seem to be allowed to set up anywhere and everywhere as well as the litter etc taking over the area.
I came across your recent article with respect to the state of the pavements within the boulevard (Alberton).
As a concerned long-time resident of Alberton, I’m more shocked about the state of the boulevard, in general, these days.
Hawkers seem to be allowed to set up anywhere and everywhere as well as the litter etc taking over the area. It’s disgusting and quite a shame to drive through and nothing to be proud of as a resident, that’s for sure, especially with it basically being the entrance to the city.
The metro cops used to have a good handle on this type of thing as well as double parking etc but seem to not be as controlled anymore – quite evident.
I’m sure there are many more residents within Alberton that feel the same way about Voortrekker Road and the boulevard as I do, probably also avoid the area as do I.
Perhaps Ekurhuleni can comment on what their plans are to curb the situation currently unfolding within the centre of Alberton, in desperate need of a re-vibe?
