Last goodbyes to murdered D&D officer
Many gathered to pay tribute to Lehlohonolo (Lucky) Masemola and offer condolences to his wife, children and family.
A MEMORIAL service for the fallen D&D Tactical security officer, Lehlohonolo ‘Lucky’ Masemola, was held at Kardia Family Church on February 28.
Members of the SAPS, the community policing forum (CPF), D&D Tactical, ward councillors and community members of the South gathered with heavy hearts to pay tribute to Lucky and offer condolences to his wife, children and extended family, who were present at the service that proceeded at 10am.

Lucky was shot on the corner of Swartkoppies Road and Klipriver Drive on February 21 after confronting three suspicious people. Lucky and his colleagues approached the three males (on the outskirts of Mall of the South) and when the officers approached the men to search them, one of the suspects drew a firearm and shot at the security. Lucky sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was transported to Mulbarton Hospital where he sadly succumbed to his fatal injury.

The ceremony was opened in prayer and thereafter a hymn was sung in remembrance of Lucky. Speeches were given by a representative of the SAPS, the CPF, the ward councillors and D&D Tactical.
“We are devastated to announce that Lucky sadly passed away this morning after suffering a gunshot wound. Lucky was no mere employee but the heart and soul of D&D Tactical’s operations and anine-year-longg member of what we call family. God bless you, Oscar Mike! You will be dearly missed,” read a tribute to Lucky on D&D Tactical’s Facebook page after the incident occurred.

D&D Tactical extends a thank you to the DA ward councillor, Aspen Nature Estate, Mall of the South, Kardia Family Church, CPF, Mondeor SAPS and community members of the South for their unending support and contributions.
