Community shares St. Patrick’s Day plans

“There will be whiskey and vodka and lekker music.”

THE RECORD explored the town again to ask community members what their plans were for St. Patrick’s Day, if they celebrate it. Here is what they had to say.

YOLANDA VAN WYK “I don’t have any plans because I do not celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day. It is not relevant to my culture. It is an Irish thing that they must enjoy celebrating.”
CHARLENE KIATAZABU “I was planning to go to church on that day. I only found out about this holiday a few minutes ago. Perhaps I will drink a bit of communion wine in celebration.”
ASHLEY PEVERETT “I’m going to spend my Saint Patrick’s Day at King David High School in Houghton to watch the Easter rugby. I will definitely celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day properly.”
CHARLES PARSONS “I’m going to put on my green Borat swimsuit and chill by a bonfire. There will be whiskey and vodka and I’m going to listen to some lekker music.”
