Quick reaction saves litres of water

Once the RECORD reported the problem to the senior clerk at the rates office, the water meter was repaired on the same day.

ON the evening of March 21 one of the patrons at a tavern in Yamaha Street knocked down an outside water metre of a house near the tavern.

The owner of the house, an unemployed single mother, woke up and found her property filled with water which was running freely from the water meter.

“The water filled my property and ran into the properties of my backdoor neighbours and ended up in Wynkwaardt Street. We reported it to EMM on March 22 but nobody came until now, April 4.

“Maybe when the RECORD reports incidents something will be done,” said the owner, Tanya Filander.

Once the RECORD reported the problem to the senior clerk at the rates office, Tebogo Seemela, the water meter was repaired on the same day saving the waste of many more litres of water.

“Thanks to the Alberton RECORD for the help and EMM for responding so quickly this time,” said Tanya with a smile.
