The Record spoke to the public about their thoughts on municipal service delivery in Alberton. Here’s what some community members shared.
LORRAINE KEYSER: “We’ve had some electrical issues since fibre optic cable was installed on our street. I also think the roads should be upgraded. But, I can’t complain too much because the rubbish collection is fantastic.”PALESA RAMOLELLE: “I only work in Alberton, but I think that the municipal service delivery is good. It’s clean everywhere I go and, if the power does go out, it doesn’t last too long.”ANTHONY STREHLE: “I’ve noticed that service delivery is not always sustainable. ‘Quick fixes’ are the norm. I’ve seen two bridges around Alberton that I don’t think will stay intact for very long.”KHURSHID ANWER: “I’ve had no hassles with the municipal services here, but I’ve only been here for five years. Compared to Pakistan where I’m from, it’s very nice here. However, the crime makes me uncomfortable.”FANA MAKHUBO: “According to many people I come across, there are a lot of service delivery issues. I think that the municipality should make themselves more accessible to the public and listen to us.”
