Alberton CPF best in Ekurhuleni

Alberton CPF wins top award for Ekurhuleni as they were recognised for the work they do in the community.

ALBERTON – The Annual SAPS Merit Awards Dinner that took place on Saturday November 16 at Rio Rooms, Carnival City was an evening to be remembered.

The Ekurhuleni awards that had been presented were: Best Vispol Crime prevention member, best support members, best volunteer and best community police forum.

The Alberton community police forum (CPF) took the honours as the best CPF in Ekurhuleni and their neighbour Brakendowns CPF came second.

Mr Dave Burt (chairperson) and Mr Philip Malherbe (adviser of Alberton CPF) were overjoyed that the award was given because of all the hard work from the sectors which include: sector 1A South Crest, Sector 1B Alberante, New Redruth, Sector 1C Alberante, Raceview , Randhart, Sector 1D General Alberts Park, New Market, Sector 2A Alberton North, Elandshaven, Sector 2B Florentia, Verwoerdpark, Sector 3A Phumula Gardens, Rondebult and Leondale.

The previous week when Dave and Philip appeared before the Evaluation Panel, represented Alberton CPF, they had to face stiff competition from the other competitors. They believe what separated them from the rest was the healthy cooperation between the CPF and their partners: SAPS.

Alberton CPF, apart from the fact that they are the eyes and ears of the police in fighting crime, also concluded their social responsibilities for this year.
