GALLERY: Holes on pavements dangerous and an eyesore
“It’s been messed up completely now and no one’s helping to resolve the issue.”
RECENTLY, a few residents have been complaining about large holes that were dug out of the municipal pavements just outside their properties.
It’s been suspected by the complaining residents that these holes have been dug by internet fibre installing companies several weeks ago. They agree that not only are these holes an eyesore to all who passes by, it’s also dangerous as criminals can easily hide here and wait to hijack residents who leave their properties.
One resident who lives close to Elizabeth Eybers Street, Randhart, claims to have called the EMM several times to address this issue, but nothing has come of it.
“I don’t know if the company who made the holes ran out of money, but they left the holes open just like that,” said the resident.
“The EMM hasn’t gotten back to me as promised, so I had to fill the hole outside my house myself to lower the risk of attracting criminals.”
The same claim came from a resident from Witbos Street, Brackendowns.
“I’ve reported the problem to the EMM several times, but I haven’t heard anything back,” said the resident.
“I spend tens of thousands of Rands annually to keep that sidewalk looking pristine. It’s been messed up completely now and no one’s helping resolve the issue. It’s extremely frustrating.”
EMM was contacted for comment, but the RECORD did not receive any at the time of going to print.
