THE Alberton branch of AfriForum’s neighbourhood watch received new safety equipment on September 20.
The branch received ten bullet-resistant vests as well as reflector jackets and flashlights. The acquisition of these supplies follows the branch identifying an increase in criminal activities in the area.
“The purpose of the Alberton neighbourhood watch is to assist the community in emergency situations in cooperation with SAPS,” said Louis van Aswegen, chairperson of AfriForum’s Alberton branch.
“Effective safety equipment is therefore of immeasurable value. The neighbourhood watch will launch various actions and patrols to combat crime in cooperation with other local safety structures. W, therefore,e encourage the Alberton community to join our neighbourhood watch.”
