Your help could save life
The Alberton Rugby Club has agreed to host and help with a fund-raising event to help Nienke gets the treatment she critically needs.
THE Alberton Rugby Club (“A Square Rugby Club”) will be having a super fun family festival day on November 24 in aid of a 15-month-old baby, Nienke Louw, who has been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease, and is in desperate need of help.
Nienke and her parents, Erika Louw and Jandré van Staden, live in Dalview, Brakpan. The Alberton Rugby Club has agreed to host a fund-raising event to help Nienke get the treatment she critically needs.
Nienke suffers from Atrioventricular Septal Defect (AVSD), which she was diagnosed with shortly after birth. AVSD is a heart defect that involves the valves between the heart’s upper and lower chambers and the walls between the chambers. It is a rare disease and accounts for four per cent of heart defects diagnosed in children.

Doctors attempted to repair her heart on two occasions, but operations had to be cancelled due to unexpected complications. At the moment Nienke’s condition is at a critical level.
She is now in dire need of expert medical service to survive – this is not available through the state, and Nienke’s parents do not have medical aid funds to cover the costs. Medical and related costs to save Nienke are expected to reach about R2-million.
So, you, your family and friends’ attendance at the festival day on November 24 is much needed.
It is going to be a lively occasion with many different activities for all ages. There will be a wide variety of Afrikaans musical guests; auctions for art and boxing memorabilia; guest appearances by boxers; a beer garden and food stalls; dog shows about crime awareness; and jumping castles with more entertainment for the children. There will also be raffles and prizes to be won.

The event will start at 10am until 6pm. Entry cost is R50 per adult and children under 12 get free access.
If you would like to become involved in the event in any way- advertising, hiring a stall and auctioning items, please call Schantelle on 074 156 7928 or Mike on 076 495 2743. You can also call them if you would like to donate towards little Nienke.
Your kindness and support could save her life.
