NSPCA hosts 63rd annual general meeting

“The question is, where would the animal welfare be if the NSPCA did not exist?”

THE National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA), situated in Alberton, held its 63rd annual general meeting (AGM).

“It is with great pride that we were able to showcase our work over the last year at our AGM,” said Meg Wilson of the NSPCA.

“To be able to say that the work showcased is merely scratching the surface of the magnitude of work that the NSPCA has done in the last 12 months is both inspiring and incredibly overwhelming. The question is, where would the animal welfare be if the NSPCA did not exist?” she continued.

Each operational unit of the NSPCA shared their challenges and achievements over the past year, both in terms of national and international issues relating to animal welfare. These operational units included the Animal Ethics Unit, Special Projects Unit, Training Unit, Donkey Upliftment Project, Wildlife Protection Unit, Wildlife Trade and Trafficking Portfolio, Special Investigations Unit, Society Liaison Unit, Farm Animal Protection Unit and the NSPCAs Research Officer and Veterinarian.

The NSPCA expressed their excitement and determination to aim even further beyond the benchmark in animal welfare this coming year.
