Grieving mother cannot believe son overdosed, needs closure

"Death is death - nothing can bring him back but I need to know what really happened to my son," said Colleen Mohammed.

GRIEVING mother Colleen Mohammed (61) still can’t come to terms with the death of her son, Wesley (22).

She found Wesley’s body in his room on July 27 in their Eden Park home.

Although he had troubles with drugs before, Colleen stated he was clean for six months and that he was ready to go on with his life.

“We were going to the Eastern Cape.

“I don’t believe that Wesley died from a drug overdose – he was clean. Wesley regularly attended his aftercare after returning from rehab and the results always came back negative – there is no way that my son was back on drugs as initial reports indicated, stating that the cause of death was suspected to be an overdose. Wesley was clean,” she said.

“I went to bed that night, leaving Wesley with a friend in the dining room and that is the last time I saw Wesley alive,” she said.

“Death is death – nothing can bring him back but I need to know what really happened to my son. How can he die in my own home without me even knowing anything?

“I am pleading with the community, anybody who may know anything, or who may have seen Wesley going out that night, to please contact the investigating officer, Sgt Baloy on 062 660 7536.”

Wesley’s memorial service will be held on December 1 from home, 28 Toyota Street, corner Valiant and Toyota streets, Eden Park.
