Revival City College learners dig new gardening project

“In today's economic climate, it is important that children learn skills which would make them self-sustaining."

REVIVAL City College (RCC) has partnered with the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to take over the vegetable garden on Revival City Church’s premises.

The department has committed to donating gardening implements and seeds towards this project.

Under the guidance of Charlene Howard, a teacher at RCC, the children will learn about growing their own vegetables.

Pastor Hannes van Zyl, senior pastor of Revival City Church, said he was excited about the enthusiasm and initiative showed by the management and staff of the college towards this project.

The college’s principal, Natalie Louw, said she was pleased that the children would be given the opportunity to learn yet another helpful life skill.

“In today’s economic climate, it is important that children learn skills that will make them self-sustaining,” she said.

All crops harvested will be donated to those in need within the church and the community, as well as to the baby house and children’s home the church helps to run.
