Lucinda Pietersen’s last thoughts as Mrs Africa pageant

“It was a good run, I have given it my best and now my time has come to an end.”

I am so proud and honoured to have represented Africa in the most prestigious pageant in the world for married women. It was a good run, I have given it my best and now my time has come to an end. I will forever be Mrs Africa 2018.

I’ve carried both my titles as Mrs Africa 2018 and Mrs Africa Globe 2018 with pride and dignity. I’ve had a wonderful journey. I’ve grown and my life and mindset have been transformed during this past year. I give all glory to God.

I’ve met wonderful people this past year and I have built relationships with people who share my vision and who mentored me. My testimony has given hope to so many women. My primary focus has been to uplift and to empower women and, with my titles, I’ve been able to reach a wider spectrum.

I’ve been involved in numerous charities in and around South Africa. I’ve made charitable contributions to children’s homes, rehabilitation centres, shelters and old age homes. I’ve run school shoe and clothing drives, as well as food drives in aid of the less fortunate.

I’ve also made financial contributions towards the Nzuri Project, which enables surgical procedures for women in the Congo, who suffers from endemic goitre or fistula conditions.

Other highlights during my reign were being a guest speaker at events, getting VIP access to events, and being in branding advertisements, to list a few.

When I look at how far I’ve come, all I can do is thank God – I am blessed beyond measure to have made it this far. Abuse, pain, depression and everything else I’ve endured, made me greater and stronger. This past year was my foundation of what’s to come.
